Plymouth Group / Real Estate Services / Brokerage / Commercial
Our Commercial Real Estate Brokerage Group is headed by long time industry professional Mayer Davis.
Having entered the commercial Real Estate field in 1977, Mayer, has extensive experience negotiating the leasing and sales of commercial properties both in the New York metropolitan area as well as across the Eastern seaboard.
He began as a broker at the Edward S. Gordon Company where he closed many commercial leases with a concentration on store leasing and continued doing so at Helmsley-Spear.
He eventually became a partner at A. Davis Realty brokering the sale of garden apartment complexes, shopping centers, office buildings and land for development while continuing to do retail leasing throughout Manhattan.
In 1986, he joined NY based Northeastern Security Development Corp (NESDC) as Director of Acquisitions and Dispositions. At NESDC, he was responsible for the successful disposition of a $100 million 41 property portfolio of commercial properties throughout the tri-state area. While at NESDC, he was also involved as a principal in acquisition, raising of equity and placing of financing on properties acquired.
In 1990, Mayer was highly instrumental in the retail transformation of the former “Ladies Mile” area in the Flatiron District of Manhattan. (6th Avenue between 14th Street and 23rd Street) This area had been lying dormant for decades. He began a national campaign to convince “Big Box” retailers to join “Bed Bath & Beyond” in the renaissance of lower 6th Avenue. (It is now a thriving retail strip in the middle of Manhattan). At the same time he was involved as a consultant and broker for Olympia & York in the retail portion of the development of World Financial Center where he placed major restaurants at the Winter Garden.
In 1996 he joined Philips International as Vice President and Director of Leasing where he was in charge of leasing approximately 2 million square feet of retail and office properties in the NY Tri-State area.
He left Philips in 2006 to launch the predecessor to PCRE's Commercial Brokerage Division which, in addition to handling all leasing and sales for PCRE's parent company's (The Plymouth Group) investment portfolio, has also handled Third Party transactions ranging from the sale of the sale of regional hopping Centers, NNN leases and office buildings throughout the Northeast as well as consulting to owners of Real Estate property with strong retail components.
However, the core PCRE brokerage specialties continue to be be in the areas of exclusive retail representation for landlords in the NY metropolitan area and Tenant Representation in office leasing leasing transactions; where we have been able to consistently and successfully complete transactions on behalf of our clients in markets strong and challenging alike.
